Hi guys,

This is my first take to pyro special effects, I had already used compressed air but pyro was new to me (though I had some safety classes).

The shots were I was near the pyro explosions were double shots composited in post (you know for the shake of safety).

here is the link

well, thats it. Comment on it please!

Hope you enjoy!

ive got to say that was pretty entertaining. i liked the smoke/dirt with the explosion in the shed. ..one thing though.. since when do bullets spark on wood? :) anyway was fun to watch.

Thank you Neil,

Hahahaha true when someone asks me about the sparks I just say that those bullets were special explosive bullets. That explains the sparks and the puff of smoke. Those special bullets are presented in an earlier sequence (that doesn't exist).

The reality is that as this was my first time using bullet hits when I was making them I threw in some titanium to see how it worked and there you have the sparks. Anyway, next time I'll stick to black powder when using the hits against wood.

Thanks for the comment.

funny you mention, as soon as we finished filming we cleaned everything. We even tore down the small house to install a bigger metal one.

this is a photo of the yard after the cleaning session.

Was the intent to look real?

It didn't. There were gratuitous sparks flying everywhere. Whatever explosive material you used made way too many sparks.

Also, you had puffs of smoke where the bullets hit. The smoke is from the charge in the cartridge, and not wherever the bullet lands.

The guns also looked a little small and fake, but perhaps not.

The blood was neon pink in the pool.

Next time, you may want to try it at night and use different charges.

hi there, thank you for your comments.
Realism wasn't really my goal. I was just trying different materials to see how they worked on the screen. And i was mainly having some fun. I perdectly see what you explain about the bullets and the explosion. We used some titanium thus making ecerything look more sparky.

Anyway, thank you for your comment, whenever i'll be using this effects in a real short film i will have realism in my mind.
