special blood effect (slow but big blood spot)

Hi!

Anyone has an idea how to create a blood spot who is getting bigger and bigger quiet slow?
It's a stabbing scene, but we don't see the stab into the body, but we have to see a blood spot who is getting bigger and bigger with lots of blood coming on the floor. (victim is already on the ground, and stabbing is in the belly)

many thanks in advance!
cheers!

It's a little unclear, do you want the blood pouring out of the actor's body and spreading beneath him, or just a pool of blood spreading across the floor? I've found the best way to do this is to get the largest vet syringes you can find (the kind used for cows and horses) with no needles and a length of flexible tubing that fits over the end of the syringe. Place the tubing under the actor's clothes, tape it down and run it to the point of origin (the stab wound). Fill the syringe with "blood" and inject it through the tubing. Works great and is very easy to control.

If you want the blood spreading to be its own shot, without the victim visible, you can try the same method and tools but have the termination spot be just shy of the camera. A gelatinous enough mixture should spread out from the pressure, but you'll have to experiment. If you can shoot it on an uneven surface you can control the direction better. The best thing to do here is get some substance with similar consistency to your blood and see how it moves on your set.

Hi guys!
Thanks for your info!
I was also thinking of syringes or maybe a blood pump or something. The thing is, we don't see the stabbing it's just the girl who is laying down and we see a knife that is sticking out of her, so the blood is coming out just besides that knife, but has to flow next to her body, so it's quiet a lot of blood we want next to her. Maybe with several syringes or a big pump should do it. The other problem is it's a wide shot so it will be difficult to hide stuff or material, but we have to do some rehearsels anyway. thanks!
