As always....here's the latest *juice* :

Among the many software announcements reportedly planned for the event are new versions of Final Cut, Motion, DVD Studio Pro, and Shake.

Panasonic's New Full Resolution HD Cam

Also at the event, sources say that Apple will co-announce and preview Panasonic's new FireWire-equipped HD camcorder. The new AG-HVX200 camcorder is expected to revolutionize filmmaking by offering independent filmmakers the first and only full-resolution HD camera available for under $10,000.

Said to be the industry's most anticipated technology breakthrough, the hand-held P2 camcorder will provide 1080i, and 720p recording with the production proven image quality of 100 Mbps DVCPRO HD. The AG-HVX200 will record on a P2 card in 1080 in 60i, 30p and 24p; in 720 in 60p, 30p and 24p; in 480 in 60i, 30p, and 24p either in DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO.

...And much, much more!!

BOOOO YEAH! That pretty much sums up any concern over post workflow.
They've been working together since the new camera is doing so many things differently.

Yeah--may have been a good system in place with the DVX.
But, it took a solid two years before there was DVCPRO-HD over firewire with the AJ-HD1200A
along with Frame Rate Conversion utility in FCP4. . . Glad to see we've made it, though.

I hope Vegas has support for it in Vegas 6!

Vegas already supports HD. Since HVX200 footage will be on P2 card as videoclip files (AVI?), there is no capture involved (unless you want to do it directly from camera). So, my take is that Vegas already supports HVX200 - just the workflow will be different. Instead of capturing clips, you will import them.

Unfortunately P2 stores in a different format (MX I think it's called) and so an NLE would have to know about that format to use it. Also, I don't know if a standard DV codec would understand the DVCPRO HD.

To parrot what has been posted otherplaces on here:
Focus Enhancements has a MX to other file format converter. That's all I know.

Paing Mr. Green.. Mr. Barry Green!!!

Vegas (and other editors) will have to have an implementation of the DVCPRO-HD codec. Apple, Avid, and Canopus all have it. It's up to Adobe, Sony, and others to work wtih Panasonic to implement it. Hopefully they all will.

And, this event seems to be implying that it'll be the formal unveiling. We may not have to wait until the 18th for details, we may get 'em on the 17th!
