spec spots

basically a spec spot is shooting a spot (commercial) for a well known brand or product. you are not actually contracted or with a production company to shoot the spot, but you do it to slap it on your reel or just to have fun w/ it.

I think i´m in the comedy ones. FX are spectacular, but i rather have a good fun time.

Home depot pool heaters made me tears!

hmmm....i wonder if there are any people on here that shoot spots? if so, can you post some links to where i can see them? right now im writing a treatment for a spec spot for las vegas. it goes along the lines of "what happens in vegas stays in vegas"

I'm looking at shooting spec spots for businesses around town so I can try and sell them, if they don't want them I slap them on my demo reel (the ad, not the business :))

The best thing about spec spots is that you get 100% creative control. Which can result in some great ads, but you need to be careful sometimes its too easy to lose sight of what you're really trying to sell.
