SPAM! SPAM! Everywhere SPAM!

I receive so many Penis Enlargement junk mails, I'm starting to wonder if the Internet God's (or my girlfriend) aren't trying to tell me something.

What junk mail do you get?

I love the filters on gmail. Don't believe the 'big brother' hype! But the stuff that shows up in the spam folder can be pretty silly... Everyone's got their job to do I guess. Be Well!

It's just some lonely sexually repressed computer sitting in a third world country somewhere reaching out for love and understanding.

It seems all of Canada wants to sell prescription meds to me.

Love the new sig, Isaac. Are you paying homage to Lebroz? :)

I get the penis enlargement emails and people trying to sell me a really legit copy of Photoshop CS for $40.

I alway get the fake AOL and Paypal letters always trying to steal your identity and money. Anyone convicted of this: no trial, no jury, straight to CASTRATION, then have your picture taken like in Abu Gharib!!!

*Hey Terry Lancaster, is that Ogre from Revenge to the Nerds/Bloodsport on percussion in your avatar? Funny stuff!!

Too much junk.

The sad thing about spam is that it works. Otherwise, why would they continue to send it? It's super cheap and there's plenty of suckers out there that will fall for the scam or need to enhance/enlarge/extend/engorge/inflate/etc. something.

Btw - Anyone know where I can get some Vioxx? :cheesy:

i get the 'your wife is cheating on you' ones. and all the others mentioned. really sucks. im at about 40 junk mails a day.. i know it is much worse for others.

Speaking of Spam... I guess in Hawaii, Spam (the canned "meat") is so popular that they give away free trips to the Spam museum. Mind you, the Spam museum is in Austin, Minnesota (about an hour from my house). Imagine it, people from Hawaii taking a vacation in a shitty small town in Minnesota.

Makes my head hurt.

I run my own e-mail server. That means I have 'some' control over what gets through and what doesn't. I can say that I've elminated over 99% of spam coming to my inbox, with (unfortunately) some false positives. Only when you get a chance to look at all the mail server logs you realize how bad this thing really is. Remember, your ISP probably catches a lot for you already, stuff that you are not aware of.

It's amazing how creative the spammers are - I think I've seen any combination of letters in the Latin alphabet as user names in my domain. They masquerade behind non-existent IPs, they use other people's addresses as senders, I HATE THEM!

Forget terrorism - this is a threat to national security! Imagine all the people who got spammed starting a revolution!

E-mail is dead, and spammers are to blame.

um, you guys should never subcribe to anything or give you email address away. I usually have several different email accounts for special purposes. I'm going to go back old school and send my mails through the post office. No spam there, just 32 cents.

And cut all those reward cards! Air miles, Gas points, shoppers discount cards - they all collect information on you that mass mailers use to target you with their 'You've just won $10,000,000' crap. If I have to register with e-mail, I read the site's privacy statement first (just like I did with this one), and if any doubt, I leave the site or give them a temporary yahoo address.

Just start an account that you only use for that kind of thing (but NOT for actual emails), and keep your functional accounts isolated.
