Spaghetti Westerns

Blaine

Mr. Hollywood
I've been watching a couple of Spaghetti Westerns lately. Of course I've seen Sergio Leone's but I watched Django about a month and a half ago, by the other Sergio, Sergio Carbucci. Yesterday, I just saw his masterpiece, The Great Silence. I think it has become my favorite Spaghetti Western. The lead character, Silence, talked just enought to make it interesting (he was mute). And the ending was killer. If you like Spaghetti Westerns, you have to see The Great Silence.

i know I'm an asshole, but i didn't finish it. Watched about 20 min and had to go do something else. Never came back to it. It just didn't grab me.

Django rules though :)

Carbucci's stuff (though less known than his counterpart) is good...
but
Cliché as it may be, I still gotta go with The Good, the Bad & the Ugly as my favorite plate of spaghetti western. I do remember the score in The Great Silence that you mentioned being damn near outer-worldly. Django was as good, or better tho IMO.

Edit:
Man, it's been a while. I need to check this shoot-em-up out again

Thanks for mentioning it.

I've only seen the Sergio Leone movies, but I should see these other ones. Thanks for pointing them out.

I just finished shooting my "modern" spaghetti western :) I don't have the trailer hosted right now, but I'll send you a link when it is
Cool, can't wait to see it.

Oh man...Blaine, excellent flick!!!

'Spaghetti Westerns' is my favorite genre of all time. I love them. I absolutely love them. In school, I've chosen to write a few papers on the genre and have gotten a chance to learn so much about the political, economical, and sociological motives behind the genre. Take a look at this article... http://www.wildeast.net/spaghettiwestern.htm It is a very interesting article about the rising of the Spaghetti Western market. However, it doesn't really address the difference of the American Western Hero and why the hero in the 'Spaghetti Western' takes on an amoral personae and displays less camp. But, its still a very good read.

Cheesesailor77...I can't wait to see your flick!!!

Oh ****. I ****ed up. When I said "modern" Spaghetti Western, I didn't mean MODERN like yours, Cheese. I meant a updating of the genre within the old west time period. Oh, yes, it will be ultra-violent.

That's an interesting trailer. I liked a lot of the shots and especially the red still frames introducing the actors.
