space-blanket as reflector?

In Kris Malkiewicz's book CINEMATOGRAPHY, he briefly talks about using an outdoor "space blanket" as a reflector to hang on the wall. Has anyone had any experience with such techniques?

Hang on the wall?

A space blanket is basicly a mylar piece of fabric about6' square.

It's ok to use, but a bit hard to control. I guess if I had to use one, I would spray glue it to a sheet of beadboard (styrofoam). and have some one hand hold it for more control.

I actually bought big roll of this stuff on clearance at a fabric store. It can come in handy. Some of them are silver on one side and gold on the other. I've use gold foil to nice effect. I also have bought those shiny windshield reflectors from wal mart for about 5 or 6 bucks.. They are a little easier to control and fold up tiny.

For 70 bucks you could buy a flexfill with a white and silver side and hang it a lot more places than a wall.

I saw one of those in a kit. It was about 3 or four feet across and came with different colored covers. I think there was about 6 different "looks" you could get from it It folded up into about an 18" square case. Maybe about 160 bucks?

You can also buy the gold/white material from a photo/grip stores by the foot/yard. then glue it onto some bead-board
or just use it like a dress and just shake your
ass towards subject, creating a cool water effect! hahahahahhaaaaa!
