Sountrack Pro rendering some tracks too fast!!!

I had this problem before the update and now after. Some tracks or sound effects render all wrong! After the render it plays back as if it were sped up!? If tried many things to fix it. I rendered to wave instead of aiff. That didnt work. I changed the sound effect from an mp3 to acc. That didnt work either. What gives? Anyone have this problem before?

I even used QT to render the mp3 into a aiff first and then used it in sountrackpro and i still have the same problem.

How much of a speed up? THe SFX is probably at 44.1 and your project is almost certainly at 48, so that could be the issue but that's not much of a speed up. One other thing that may or may not be a problem is that if you have digital in's and out's and you have the clock set to digital you MUST have a valid digital signal at the correct sample rate. I have noticed, with other apps but it's a hardware issue so it should still be applicable, that many digital devices put out randomly whacko signals when turned off. I have a DAT hooked up to the SPdif in on my interface and if I'm on digital clock and the DAT is turned off I get anything between very slow to very fast playback. It would be the first thing I would check.

Oh and as a side note. Try to avoid using MP3 files except as your final format. You lose a bunch of info in the translation that will really show up if you do any manipulation of the file, and the precision of the playback speed is, ah dodgy at best. Your brain is very forgiving of rhythmically predictable sounds like music but much less forgiving of things like sound FX and dialog.

Hey thanks for the reply. I dont think its a DAT issue since I dont own one. It might ne a 44.1 to 48 issue. Thats something I havent looked into. The audio that messes up is audio I downloaded from a site. When I say sped up I meant to say that the pitch is higher. Real crazy. As if I was to record your voice then render it, and after the render your voice sounds like one of the chipmunks. So maybe I'll try rerendering the clip to a 48?

Dude! I think your right! I rendered the whole thing as 44.1 and it fixed everything. Thanks so much!
