SOUNDTRACK software

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

I use it for some stuff... Garageband as well...

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

I forgot what my questions were now! I guess I figured it out. Yea everybody that has heard stuff I made using software have been impressed. Garageband sounds like its pretty cool too.

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

It's pretty much the same thing as Soundtrack, just adds midi functionality with a built in sound module... Man i wish it was around about 8 years ago... :)

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

Do you mean if I get GarageBand and the extra instruments and loops, I won't feel the need for SoundTrack? My problem is that my mac doesn't have AGP graphics, so I can't upgrade my FinalCut Pro to 4.0. I'm missing not having SoundTrack and LiveType. I'm thinking of upgrading my AfterEffects to 6.0 which has some great new type stuff, which might minimize the "need" for LiveType, and if GarageBand would do the work of SoundTrack, then my G4 upgraded Blue & White G3 still has some life left!

So, what would I be missing from SoundTrack if I only have GarageBand?

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

I've heard Garageband blows doors on Soundtrack. I'm going to be getting it next week.

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

It's different software. I believe the interface is different. Also, I don't think Soundtrack handles MIDI, whereas GarageBand can generate MIDI, but converts stuff to audio files. I read from the MacWorld e-mail newsletter that it can't import MIDI. However, at my local mac dealer, they discovered shareware (or freeware) called Dent du Midi (do a search) which allows GarageBand to convert MIDI files made in another program. Also, Soundtrack comes with more loops. The MacWorld newsletter also says that GarageBand is very slow, but I don't know how that compares with SoundTrack.

My question remains: Other than extra loops and instruments, what am I missing from SoundTrack that I can't get in GarageBand?

Re: SOUNDTRACK software

not a whole lot that i've found... not sure how well the video issue plays into it. (Soundtrack being for scoring videos, etc)... and garage band primarily for music creation..
