Sorry, most likely a small issue to experienced users but I have just come from Adobe audition and there are quite a few differences. I searched forums, google etc. Its most likely one of those "why does it clunk" questions.

Watched the soundtrack tutorial and checked the manual.

On the tutorial he selects a track in FCP and uses the "send to - soundtrack pro audio file project. SP opens and he is away". On trying to follow the tutorial I did same thing and got "unknown file error" :S

Anyway in my real world project I try to do the same thing and I dont have the ability to use that option.. I thought maybe it had something to do with them not being a linked stereo pair so I selected that... same thing. I need to be able to edit them sideby side.

They open in multrack however when you view in editor its just a single channel, not both channels that make up the a1 a2 track.

Watching the tutorial again when SP opens. It is a single stereo track showing left and right channels. Which is exactly what I need.

What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.

ncje i am having the same problem could you ever figure it out? i dont have the same option "send to - soundtrack pro audio file project" and it only gives me the option to create a multitrack....whats up with that?

does anybody know of any good dvd tutorials available on soundtrack pro???

OK, here we go. You can only have one clip selected at a time, and you can't select a Sequence for what you want.

Selecting a Sequence or Nested Sequence in the Browser or Timeline will only let you open it as an STP Multitrack Project. Why? Cause you have multiple tracks of audio selected!

Right click on any single clip in either the Browser or Timeline windows, Send To, STP Audio Project File.

If that doesn't work straight out, make sure you don't have other stuff selected at the same time.

Also, here's links to a 2-part installation of my Cut Lines column that focuses on using STP with FCP.

I'd also ask you what format your editing in, what is the format of the audio, are you right clicking in the Browser or the Timeline, what exactly do you have highlighted when you right click?
