Soundtrack Pro - Auto levels?

Hi
I am new to Soundtrack pro / FCP

Is there a simple way (filter?) to balance the levels; so nothing peaks and nothing is too low? The length of the entire session is 1 hour+

Thank you!

Yes it's called mixing!

More to your question. No. Depending on what you are doing. If it's some local TV doc thing you might get away with some sort of auto level filter. But it's a little like putting an auto color correct filter on your picture. It can make the whites all white, but what about that night scene? How about the one where everything is tinted red?

The reason you don't want "auto" anything is because it sucks quality out of your film.

You can slap a limiter on the tracks to keep the peaks from clipping. But otherwise you want to do it by hand so it is what it should be.

A better alternative is to have a sound post person do your post.
