Soundtrack for film and nested projects

I am about to start putting all my scenes on one timeline. That means importing each edited scene into one big timeline.

I have two options:

1. Keep the soundtrack (songs, scoring etc) INSIDE the scene OR

2. Import the scenes without soudtrack and then recreate the soundtrack as one big audio track on the FILM TIMELINE

I can see pluses and minuses to doing either, so not sure what's best, especially due to the length of the film (probably 2 and a half hours)

Ex: Having one soundtrack track woud allow bettter soundtrack mixing between sections BUT since the soundtrack is invariably customised to the edits of each particular scene, then if I reedit a scee (say, shorten a shot or remove it), it seems it would be harder to then adjust the soundtrack (volume curve points, etc..) on the main FILM TIMELINE to match...

So I am seeking input / advice here.

Thank you :)

To me one of the things I like about Vegas is being able to drop projects into one “output” timeline.

I had some individual projects I did for my boss a while back and he came back to me a few weeks ago with the idea of making one presentation video.
Keeping everything [each original project] separate really helped me a lot.
Mostly because the audio levels varied from project to project due to different equipment and different narrators and some video had bad sync issues.
All I could think was “man, I'm glad this is not one continuous master” when I started dealing with the audio problems.

I doubt you'll be faced with the same issues on your current project because they sound totally different but I am a fan of keeping scenes/project separate until output render.

Number 1 all the way...
