soundtrack controll

This is most definitely a very basic question but im a bit of a newbie (i already looked in vegas content and help)

I already know how to put a soundtrack into my project but what i need help on is how do i get the song to gradually fade out and end prematurely. Is there some kind of tool were i can pick a certain point on the song and slowly bring it to a gradual end? (i know how to cut at a certain point and drag down using the audio bar)

I apologize if this question does not make sense. Any help will be appreciated.

Reach up into the corner of the clip and drag the fade envelope to the left. Decide the length you want, then right-click to choose the fade type. The one which usually works best is the one with the quick initial drop then, flattening out, kind of like a curved capital L.
