Hello,
I'm currently working on my first big documentary project taking place in
Mongolia. This focuses on Nomad life and also specifically aims at their
traditional music. I need good sound for ambient sounds (river, animals, etc),
spoken words (interview) and especially important are (solo) performances of
artists which contain both vocal and instrumental sounds.
Please hear my first shoot below, which was a good test for the real deal.
I noticed I might need even better sound equipment than I currently have.
In there you see solo performances with instrument and vocal work; This
vocal work has very complex and sometimes very subtle sounds, which is important
to capture. In this shoot I used Rode VideMic for interview and Sennheiser E845 for
solo performances.
I work with a HV30 rig on which a Rode VM is mounted.
I also have a Marantz PMD620 Field recorder with Rode Stereo VideoMic.
I'm thinking about getting a Juicedlink CX231 so I can use more (better) mics.
Reading ver positive things about a stereo pair of the Oktava MK-012 mics
(music/ambient), and what about the Rode NTG-2? Good replacement for
Rode VM? (interview)
My main problem is travelling as light as possible. I don't mind bringing enough
batteries for example to power the Juicedlink or a microphone. My budget is
somewhere around $500 - $700.
I'm fairly new to this complex world of "SOUND", but I'm trying to learn as much
as possible in here!
Any tips? Very welcome, thanks!

WHAT I HAVE:
This are some recordings done with a Sennheiser E845 hooked up on the Marantz PMD620.
Some are ok, but there is too much noise picked up obviously. Actually I also did those
recordings with the Rode VM too, which even sound slightly better on some parts.
Files are .mp3 and under 1MB.
1a. Bishgüür and Ikh Khuur (Instruments) - Excerpt of original recording.
1b. Listen to edited recording - Same recording but filtered noise and more.
2a. Tovshuur and Höömii (Instrument + vocal) - The original recording.
2b. Listen to edited recording - Same recording but filtered noise and more.
3a. Morin Khuur (Instrument solo) - The original recording.
3b. Listen to edited recording - Same recording but filtered noise and more.

WANT TO BUY:
Juicedlink CX231 - 2x XLR input + phantom power.
Oktava MK-012 - Seems nice with the 'stereo bar', shock mount and wind screens no?
What is adviced? It comes with cardioid capsules, but maybe hypercardioid are better?
