Sound waves

I was wondering what a good way to make sound waves in after effects is, they don't necessarily have to be linked to a particular sound though. Just in case that is a little vague, I was thinking soundwaves on a graph (i.e. sinusoidal).
By the way I am completely helpless when it comes to expressions, so if it involves some please be pretty clear.
