Sound syncing at 1080 pa, 720p, how in the world does it work!?

Okay, talking about shooting at different frame rates, how do people do it when they shoot 720p, or 1080pa with the advanced pulldown.

I plan on recording sound both on a fostex field recorder and directly to the camera.

When shooting 1080pa, its really 60fps being recorded right? then editing in 23.98 just confuses me, how is the sound going to sync, what is the workflow thats supposed to happen?

What happens in the sound world of all of this? Syncing, getting the field recorder to know that your shooting 60 fps and latter going to edit in 23.98, does this throw things out of wack? How do you deal with this stuff, this is totally mind boggling I never even thought about this.

You would use a clapper and then calculate the appropriate slow down rate for your audio if you actual plan to sync audio to slow-motion picture.

More often then not, sync sound is not used in slow-mo. The occasional, "Noooooooo" or some other exclamation might be tossed in but mostly slow audio is comical and not used.

Cheers

Thanks Barry.

Thanks Barry.

Thanks Barry, dont know why I believe you over the other guys. One person told me that audios audio, and not to worry about it it should automatically sync in post, but thats not true.

Even though im recording live 1080pa, which is really 29.97 right? or 60fps?

It doesnt matter, as long as I do the pulldown and edt in 23.98 your saying? Even if I shoot in 60 or 29.97, set the fostex in 23.98, you sure?
