Hi everyone,
I'm new on this forum.
I just ordered an Oktava M012 from sound-room after looking through the recommendations on dvxuser. Paul wanted me to let you all know that sound-room became Rycote dealers this week (and also carry Schoeps mics).

I see why sound-room comes so recommended. It was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had with online shopping.

Great news that they will carry Rycote now. Will make it much easier for people who want to get a BBG with their Oktava. Throwing out a kudos to MattinSTL for working with soundroom to get the DV discount and building a relationship between DVXUsers and Sound Room.

Cheers

I just did a back to back boom swing test of the "extreme condition" windscreen and the BBG and the no contest hands down winner is BBG. So that is great!

Im trying to order an Oktava and a BBG but when I put in DV for the coupon code it says its invalid...
Did it change or expire?

I would just call them... like most of the dealers recommended here, their phone support is much better than their website.

Thank you all for the support you have given my company. I really do appreciate it very much.

If I am not always available on the phone, it is because The Sound Room is a small company... i.e., it's just me day-to day. If you call and and get the voicemail, It usually means I am on the phone with another customer, please leave a message and I'll get right back to you. Or as you already may know, just email and I'll get back to you quickly as well.

Just to let everyone know, The Sound Room is not some big internet mail order company with a large call center (even though we do have a sweet looking Web site!)... we're just a small family run business that tries to offer personalized service to each of our customers as best we can.

All the best,
Paul K.

yeah man, i only got the one oktava from you (and I forgot to even use the DV coupon! doh!), but I'll be back for more stuff soon. Nice you're expanding your brands!!! Thats great!

I'm always happy to see smaller sound companies doing well - thats what keeps our profession personal and tight knit! Cheers...

Thanks guys!

We brought on the Rycote line last week. Schoeps microphones also. Will be adding more stuff as the year continues. Again, I can't thank you all enough.. if there's anything in particular you need/want us to add to the shop, please let me know.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this thread into a commercial for the Sound Room.

I'm not sure if you all have checked out Bob Heil's microphones at the Sound Room. His PR-40 (dynamic) was used in capturing guns, rifles and cannons etc. in Clint Eastwood's "Letters From Iwo Jima" which won an Oscar the other night for sound editing. ... Bob's a really great guy, and his mics are simply amazing.

On a related Oscar note: my cousin Heidi and her partner were nominated for Best Documentary Feature for their film Jesus Camp... though she didn't win... big surprise, it was the most predictable award of the night, the Oscar went to Al Gore's film.

hey, no way! I just worked on a doc in december with one of the DOP's on Jesus Camp, Mira Chang. I was holding thumbs for em! Pity bout that, but yeah, no suprise really I guess.

shipped out today! doesnt get any better than that. And soon the sound room will be able to say, "I sold those Skits-O-phreniC guys their first mic before they made it big..."

Really enjoyed Jesus Camp; insightful and eye opening without being condescending. The soundtrack was really excellent too. But I was pulling for Iraq in Fragments for a similar personal reason; had a number of friends who worked on it including the post mix (which is excellent IMHO). I think all the docs were all excellent but also knew Inconvinient Truth would win because of the politics of the game. "The Best" when it comes to artistic expressions is really silly anyways.

Paul, don't worry about thread becoming a commercial for SR, the praise all came completely unsolicited. If you want to appeal even more to the DVXUser crowd you should try to carry Ktek. With them you could create a complete Oktava package: Ktek boom and shockmount, Oktava, and Rycote BBG.

Keep up the good work man!

I was thinking the same thing, you could have and "oktatva package" with the kssm, 20mm bbg, jammer, mk012 w/ hyper with or without a pole.

Sounds like me. I'd love to find a reasonably priced call center.

thanks for the suggestions. I will look into Ktek.
We were the first to carry the Sabra Som SSM-1 in the US, and we've been loyal to their line and their biggest promotor, but probably because of that, we've little unaware of other shockmounts out there...

a few more years when my nephew gets older... I'll have my "reasonably priced call center" :)

Just a note to add my vote for carrying K-tek - their stuff is awesome, also the AKG line seems pretty under-represented on this side of the pond. (hint hint - one source to rule them all..... every producers dream). My compliments and thanks for consistently being one of the highest recommended vendors in a very tough crowd. Best wishes.

yes, k-tek is a great idea. and they are a great company to work with, you cant go wrong.

the akg is a nice idea too! the ULS and blue line series would fit nicely around the current products you are offering without infringing on another products domain.

cheers,
tim
