Sound questions

Hey guys,
I have a project that I will be editing soon, and I will be recording through an older microphone (50's elvis mic) that doesn't work anymore, but I need to fake the fact that the voice is echoing in an auditorium.

What kind of filters would I use to recreate that sound of a voice through a microphone in a big room?

Thanks everyone, you're all life savers.

If the microphone "doesnt work"... there is no filter that you can use to achieve that result.

;-)

If it did work - Reverb Filter ( choose a room type). Have you got Adobe Audition ? ( lots of great effects/ controls available)

Acid (Vegas and Sound Forge incidentally) have some nice Reverb effects that would do just that I believe.

Hey Brandon,

Reverb Filter would be what you'd want to use. Keep in mind, an older mic from the 50's would have an older EQ characteristic than a newer mic, thus apply some eq to the audio track. Roll off the highs a bit and bump up the mids a bit. Most reverb plugins in NLEs sound like crap, I use higher end VST plugins (TC powecore) with FCP. If you want to get snotty with it, export the audio to something decent like cubase, nuendo, or protools....apply the verb and eq, then reexport back to your editor for post.

Good luck!
