Sound Issues when importing .Mp3

Hello all!

When I import MP3's into FCP and place them in the timeline I get little blips in the sound. In 40 seconds I've got 3 blips already.

I play the same MP3 through iTunes and they're not there.

I thought perhaps they'd go when I export the movie, but alas they remain.

I'm sure there's a simple explanation for all this shenanigans, what is it!?

Thanks in advance!
Blue.

I don't know the explanation but try running it through compressor to change to a different format. Then try bringing into FCP and see what happens? You might be able to change it in itunes also. Try right clicking on it in itunes and select convert selection to AAC. That file might work.

I would guess the blips are from a difference in formats. Look at your sequence settings and then right click on the file in FCP and look at the item properties>format. Might show you some mismatch if there are any.

FCP doesn't like MP3 audio. Convert the tracks to 16bit/48k WAV or AIFF files and I bet they'll work fine.

As always this Forum has pulled through for me!

I used Audacity (the freebie) and imported my MP3, then exported it as a wav (it took like 5 seconds) and then imported that WAV instead, with no blips, very clean sound.

Cheers!
