Sound in Vegas?

I'm editing my footage and noticed that the sound guy wasn't paying attention to the sound details. I have excess background noise wind etc... Can you remove any unwanted sounds in the clip on Vegas? I'm working on Vegas pro 9
Thanks

There's only so much you can do within Vegas. I would recommend that you look into getting Sound Forge....that's where you can really get in there and use noise reduction, declickers, etc.
Being a Sony program you can just send the audio over to Sound Forge, tweak it and send it right back to the timeline, they work together nicely.

How "excess" is it? Bad? Probably not much you can do. Garbage In/Garbage Out, as they say. You can only do so much.

You try the Noise Gate (already applied to every audio track) to cut down some; you can try eliminating certain frequencies with EQ (one version of it already applied to every track). You can even try some of the presets which may have certain things in mind.

So, you can reduce some aspects of the background noise, and you can cut it out completely in between words, but you'll never get clean, whole sound out of a dirty soundtrack.

Other, more expensive noise removal software or dedicated audio software with noise removal tools may help more, but again, nothing will get it entirely clean.
