Sound FX

Don't know if this is just for the hardware aspect of audio, but here's my question. What is one the best, most affordable SoundFX compilation CDs out there?
I'm looking for something with gun shots, explosions, bursts, and so on. I've googled it and found some sites, but their websites look so shoddy and I want something with quality.

I picked up the Action Essentials DVD from www.videocopilot.net, and now I need some sound FX to go with it.

Thanks!

Sound dogs is probably your best bet. THere are a lot of decent libraries out there but you need to figure around $100 per disk for profesional FX. So if your just looking for gun shots and explosions you may have to buy a lot of disks to get a good variety. Sound Dogs will let you buy individual tracks so it's probably a better deal. Sonic Boom has probably the best gun librarry. One disk is all gun Foley FX.
As a general all around 1/2 way decent set that is very cheap Digital Juice has a set. THe Blurb is a little missleading (50 gigs og sounds) since they are all on disk at 96k 24bit (about double wat you will likley use them at) and for the general quality there wasn't the need to go to the high sample rate. But the base price is under $600 and they are often on sale for $250. In fact they have a sale at the moment that is at $250. THey are a pretty mixed bag. Some are very nice and some sound like the junk you get in the SFX bin at Tower Records. But they are a very good deal price for performance and you get some music cuts also.

The Sound Ideas General 6000 series and the Hollywood Edge libraries are both good. For a while I had just those two, and they worked great. I've since added on to my library. If you need just guns, The Ultimate Weapon library rocks. I have that, and the guns sound great.
