You won't be charged at all if it doesn't make the goal, so you've got nothing to lose, and so much to gain, by pledging your support.

Pledged. My sound skills are attrocious and so is my spelling. I would love this video to see the light of day.

Back it up!
+1

Alright seriously. I support this but did not know about it until I stumble into the Cafe sub-forum...

You guys need to post this in the sound subforum. With that said. I just backed this project.

Thanks, Victor -- it was posted in there; it just redirects. Will copy this thread over to there.

I think it's time for an update on the Kickstarter page. And a banner ad here on DVXuser (like the ones you are showing now for the existing tutorials). Maybe a press release? Not sure how exactly you can promote a Kickstarter project, but a little media coverage might be a good thing. Maybe trade some ad space on DVXuser for ad space on other film making web sites (especially ones dealing with audio in film)? Not sure any of those exist or if it's even something you could do (you may not control DVXuser ad space). Selling products is hard, selling a product that doesn't even exist yet is really hard.

Matt, I appreciate the time you take to give advice, and that you're a backer of the project, but it doesn't appear to be a question of getting the word out -- there have been thousands of page views and hundreds of video plays. We've contacted blogs, media, interested parties, etc., and others who have backed have said they've done the same for us. We've contacted as many previous customers as we have information for (and who haven't previously unsubscribed), and of course, the page hits increase dramatically on those days -- though going from Victor's post above, it's obviously getting caught up in spam filters, going unread to junk mail boxes, and the like.

As far as getting interested eyeballs, we appear to be doing it.

With 14 days left to go, we are 26% funded. This can still be made up! Watch the video above and check out the Kickstarter page!

We haven't, Victor; was not aware of that group. But if someone here showed up just to pump a Kickstarter, they'd be shown the door immediately, so I think it would be gauche for me to do that on another board.

Besides, it's not a numbers issue here. Through everything we've done, and through our great supporters helping to spread the word, we've averaged better than 100 (targeted, prime-audience) views per day. If only ~10% of the eyeballs which have viewed the Kickstarter page had seen something they wanted to back, we'd be fully-funded by now. We're actually running at something like 2-3%. Of which you're one, and we appreciate it!

We've offered everything it's feasible for us to offer, so there's little we can do if it's not attractive enough for people to get behind -- what we have set up is the best we can do. There are no other goodies in our kitbag. As I've said throughout, if people want it, it'll happen; if they don't, there was never any point in making the product. Kickstarter is a great tool for determining that ahead of time, with no risk to anyone.

Much as I'd love to do this project, it doesn't make any sense if not enough people want it.

I lurk on JW sound and I definitely would not post there. It is not a friendly forum at all. There are some people there that I haven't even interacted with and I already dislike.
I have posted on the personal-view forum, but there does not seem to be much interest. I also posted about it in hispasonics and (understandably) there was not much interest there either (most member don't have good enough command of English to benefit from such tutorials), but there was one dude that said he has Volume one and thinks it is the best tutorial he has ever seen. I also emailed a dude in nofilmschool, just in case.

Expecting 10% of people to contribute is too optimistic. Having 2-3% is actually a super positive result. Check this guy's blog entry about his own experience.

I have already made my suggestions regarding what I would change if I were to do it again and I also saw good suggestions from another dude, but I would say that there's still stuff that you can do for this one: add updates. Your kickstarter is not looking like it is going to succeed and the lack of updates makes it look like you have abandoned it already. Maybe do a quick skype interview with some of the people who are going to collaborate, record it, edit it and then put it as a youtube video?

:)

Guys, I appreciate the level of interest you have that makes you give advice, but there's a lot of stuff you just don't know, and I'm not in a position to reveal.

I'm not going to push back against your advice, but suffice it to say, for the purposes of this Kickstarter, it just doesn't apply.

Anyway, I'm closing this thread because I'm starting a new one.
