Ha! Since when are 'old sound effects' thrown away like an old coat? Sound dogs is really good (for the sheer bulk) but the preview quality is really awful.

I have 2 terra-bytes. What exactly do you REALLY need?

Ambient: city, day, night, rural, suburbs, schoolyard, thunder, lightning, rain, hail, sleet, snow, snowplows, office, control-room, space, furnace, fans, in car, outside of car, under hood, in bus, outside of bus, truck, inside truck, tank, inside tank, FA-18 cockpit, kitchen, cafeteria, desert sand, jungle rain, jungle birds, jungle oo oo ah ah ah, jungle monkeys, monkey and birds, monkeys and loon, water fall, water ripple, waves, tsunami, trickle, trickle with monkey....?

Lot's of ambience. Pick any two.

thanks silicon. what im looking for is stuff like the the sound ideas library. swooshes, zips, ambience city. thanks man

trickle with monkey ??? - there's a visual I wish I'd missed . . .

What do you use to catalog 2 terra ???

I'm a Logic guy all the way. We also use Pro Tools, Final Cut, Sound Track Pro. I have everything cataloged into folders. I've purchased most of the libraries out there but because I capture my own Foley, ambience, SFX, I have no choice but to catalog all it of myself (or ourselves - the other folks here in the studio).

I HAVE TO hear each sound before I lay it into picture and have this neat little script that lets me do that in Logic. Sound Track Pro as well.

Keep in mind it's all 24Bit and some of the ambiences are long. Like 8 ~ 10 minutes stereo so you do the math on that. Eats up tons.

Stored on Glyph GT drives. Firewire - Oxford 911 chip. ;)

Couple of those ambiences have loop makers in them. Opening the wavs on any editor like Sound Forge, Audition (for you PC guys) and Peak on the Mac (I use Logic and ProTools) will reveal that.

If it shows only one marker, it means the second marker is the very last sample point or end of wav. They will play seamlessly. Some of them came from back-in-the-day during my Emu years. They just work and work well. They must be *PROPERLY* laid in context (read - correct volume).
