Sound editing

I've done some extensive sound editing in my timeline. Due to the many cuts I was dealing with, I deleted the video in the timeline so as to make it more convenient to work. I now want to get the video clips that relate to each clip of the sound. Is there an easier way to do this rather than writing down the timing of each clip and re-doing everything in the Viewer?

Thanks

Yes there is a way but I cannot remember...****...I will go figure it out soon for you :)

Re: Sound editing

I had a thought...
Saying that you were just starting the project, you could make the cuts with audio and your video and keep them either in a seperate project or sequence. Then just select all of your audio and copy/paste it to a new sequence and work with it there, and then go back to the old sequence when you are ready to work with both the audio and video.

To get your video references back that you deleted, I don't believe there is an easy way to do that, except for maybe opening an auto saved project (if there is one-located in the "autosave vault" folder in the FCP Docs folder). It may have auto saved for you before you cut all your video off the timeline. If you could get that autosave to open, then you could copy the video tracks and then paste them back to your newest project with the audio clips.
Just a thought though....Hope that gives you more hope!

Just guessing here...

Is there some way to export an EDL, and if necessary modify it, then re-import it? If the audio is all tied to the video in .dv format, I imagine this MAY be a way...

Re: Sound editing

Hmmm -- Depending on where your clips are in relation to which audio track you've got going...

anyway --

Here's how I'd do it. Use match frame -- F-Key. Park the playhead over an audio bit you want video from and hit F. Depending on which autoselect you have the track set to you should be able to call up the video. If you're luckier still you can mark the timeline with an x and then replace edit (F11) and all will be well.

Good luck,
