Sound Devices702

Can you upgrade a sound devices 702 with a timecode module if you decide you need timecode later (a la 702t)? Mainly looking to use with a 5dmkii, but want to know if we can upgrade later if we need this option. When a new camera system comes along.

Thanks for the "ask sound devices" advice... Here is the answer from their FAQ

"Is there any way to upgrade a 702 to a 702T, or a 702 to a 722, or a 702T to a 744T?
No. While quite a bit of the electronics are shared, many of the features, specifically data storage, time code, and I/O are unique to each product. Please consider your needs carefully before purchasing since each product is unique."

I am not worried about timecode as the TC slates are so expensive. Old fashoned analog slates are fine for my purposes with this and the 5Dii. If we need timecode, I will just buy a 744t since I will probably need more channels then too (or just hire one of our day rate sound guys who has one.).

Well, another advantage of the 702T is that even if you do buy a 744T in the future, you can jam both recorders together to get a TC locked, 6 channel recorder.
