Sound Devices MixPre issue

Two years ago, I got a good deal on a used Sound Devices Mix Pre and quickly fell in love with it. I've treated it well, used it on a few shoots, and it has worked wonderfully.

Until a week ago. It is now a noise machine and not the kind that I have use for. I'm sure it is out of warranty and I am in NYC. Does anyone have any experience on getting these fixed? Recommendations (a local shop v. sending it in to SD)? A sense on how out I might be, cash-wise? I honestly love this piece of equipment and want it returned to working order as soon as I can, but I've never really gotten an out of warranty piece repaired.

Oh, and nothing happened to it. It's not like it was doused in water or thrown off a cliff. One day it was Jekyll, the next it was hyde.

I've had an issue that was repaired under warranty and they were pretty quick about repairing it. I would suggest getting it fixed by SD.
My issue was the same thing, one channel got noisy. They claimed it was a dirty XLR jack, so you might check that first.

I would second talking to SD. They are very good about customer service.
