Sound Devices 702 audio output question?

Hey guys, I recently acquired a Sound Devices 702 and i'm looking to play sounds recorded on it directly from the unit into my modular synthesizer to process the audio. There are a lot of output options on the 702 and i'm curious which would you'd recommend to use to get the highest quality sound out of it. Thanks for any info you can offer!

Just use the main outs and get whatever cables you need made or off the shelf that go from the main outs to the inputs on your synth.

You can use the Sound Devices XL-2 TA3-F to XLR connector. Here is the link to B&H
However it is a bit costly like all Sound Devices products and is priced at 75 usd for a 15 inch long pair.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping to find a good solution without needing to buy the Sound Devices branded cables -- There isn't an after-market brand of cable that'll work, is there?

You could build them yourself(if you know how), the wiring diagrams/pin-outs are readily available, or have them custom made. But there is no telling if the custom route would really save you any money(going by my last batch of custom cables I have to say No). Depending on the type of cable, I use Trew Audio, TAI or Markertek to build mine. Markertek is nice because they STOCK cables in colors besides just black or blue. I like to color code the cables in my audio bag.

SD does not make cables . (though i spose' they could be branded with the SD name AFAIK )
I make my own mic & patch cables out of Canare bulk (around 0.55/foot) with Neutrik connectors. I use the Canare L-4E6S Star Quad for mics and mini L-2E5 mini for bag/cart interconnects.
Marketek.com will gladly make cables to your specs in their NYS Hudson Valley HQ custom cable shop. Real nice folks as well.
