I need to purchase an hdmi recorder and cannot decide between the pix and ninja.

The pix 220 is 1599. it records audio, has hdmi out, better screen and screen resolution and down converts. cons; cannot use mechanical hdd, does not support many frame rates .

The atmos is 995. (however you need to add an audio recorder and dual eyes plus an extra bracket. Supports all frame rate and external hdd. BH is adding a red giant bunle worth 499.

What do you guys think?

They were also saying it would be ready in June, then July, then August, now Sept.

I had one paid for and ordered through them and cancelled after numerous excuses.

As Barry said, until it is shipping, you have one choice between those two.

Oh, and Barry Green isn't an expert opinion?

Let me go grab my popcorn now.

No need for popcorn. I just pointed out that you can buy one, and can't buy the other.

If you're willing to wait for the PIX to be shipping, then it becomes a more interesting question. But one that can only properly be answered after the PIX is shipping, so we know exactly what it does. We had some preliminary reports, which made it look like it would be the best of the recorders (at least, the PIX 240 would be). Since then they have been listening to user requests, and the shipping date has been delayed. Are they adding even more features? We don't know.

I guess the big question is -- what camera are you planning on using it with?

I am planning to use it with a gh2. What I like of the pix is: onboardaudio recorder ( means no external recorder no dual eyes no extra time processing) Hdmi out put, down converter, bigger and better screen.
