Sound Cataloging Software

Hi there, does anyone know of any software to catalogue and archive sound for a sound library?

I.e. you import an audio file and you can add keywords, a description e.t.c... Then it lists all the files in your library, with information such as bitrate, samplerate e.t.c. and it is also possible to search it.

I found a way to create a dynamic PHP system, but it's a bit of a hastle running a local server and mysql, not to mention the time to code it.

My sound library's starting to grow and it would be extremely helpful if I had some sort of application to manage it.

If there's a free one around that would be ace, but i've not been able to find any so far!

Thanks

Steve

Hi ES,

Others who know about this kind of thing say SoundMonkey is a great program. Personally, since I'm only casually interested in cataloging, I use the free iTunes program.

The number 1 program is Sounndminer. Cross platform and REALY GREAT.

Sound Monkey is Win. only and I have heard decent reports but it's not in the same ballpark. There is also Netmix, I didn't like it that much but some do. SoundLog pro is still sort of available, Mac only.

But SM is the best and it's expandable. Also they are comming out with a new version and at that point there is suposed to be a very affordable entry level version.
