Sound Card for AVID

I have a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic but I just got AVID and it doesn't recognize it...

is there specific cards known to work with Avid that I should consider?

Avid doesn't work with anything.... but Avid.
I think the cheapest interface is the Avid MoJo.
Which version did you get? Media Composer Software only?
You have to go to their website and stay on top of the compatibility issues.

Yea... I am learning more and more about how finicky AVID is as the days go by.

There have to be a few cards that work though.

Avid works fine with my Soundblaster Live Value card. It also works with my laptop Creative PCMCIA card. It also works with my Realtek built in audio on my laptop, which everyone swears won't work...

I got it worked out!
Thanks for the reply anyway!

I didn't even want to try my little Tascam US-122 mixer which I use for 24/96 recording in the "booth" because I thought that if the other stuff didn't work I would basically be hopeless with the mixer... before I started having the rude awakening to AVID's PMS type personality I planned on using the Tascam as my digital to analog converter for my Event 20/20's...

so anywhay.... I gave it a shot... and VIOLA!

WHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

lol

:D

Now I just need to wait for my Dell 22's to sell so I can get a second Gateway and I juuuuust might be ready to go! Three monitors was a complete no-way-Jose

I should have mentioned that I didn't test to see if there is a delay...
I only got some b-roll in the bins.... will post later

Not at all true. Software Avid systems are only certified to work with certain hardware, most of it non-Avid, but just the stuff they are able to test. Lots of non-certified hardware works, Avid just won't guarentee it's success.

Hardware based Avids (MC, Adrenaline, etc), sure, but that is what you are spending all that money on, the hardware.

We have installed Avid Xpress on about a million computers (ok a little hyperbole) with various configurations and 98% of them work flawlessly regardless of the hardware not being certified. The 2% that didn't work was because of the video card.

Glad you worked it out Latin

hey Wabbit! Dude... you should have seen my face when I heard those birds chirping! I then quickly tried loading up some dialog and couldn't notice any delay :)

I am not in the clear yet however... we will have to see how it all pans out but it would seem I am now going to focus on my video card situation as my 8800GTS 640MB as all other 8800's can't do full screen at all and all I get is a little window probably smaller than 480

Anywho... Wabbit... I am eagerly waiting on a good pair of Event 20/20's to fall in my hands for a good price from Ebay :D
Now THAT's got me smiling just a s big!

We had a screening for my short at the director's house... he's got a nice little 5.1 setup and he had it cranked up... o-u-c-h... man I NEED those dang speakers!
I promised myself that once I get a Blue-Ray burner I will re-CC in my new LCD which is significantly better than the Dells and I will be GLAD to re-mix that thing...

Also I am keeping my fingers crossed to get a real boom-op on our next project!!!! And THAT's gonna make me smile even bigger than both these put together :D
if it happens :)
