Sound Bag Harness

For those of you contemplating getting a harness for your sound bag I just thought I'd pass this on to you all to save you making the mistake I did. I thought I'd save a little money by getting the cheaper ($39.95) Petrol harness and after receiving it I knew my back wasn't going to hold up well with it. So I exchanged it for the vest-style ($99.99) harness. WOW, what a difference. It's a "no-brainer" that the vest-style PEHR-N harness is the way to go. Like they say -- you get what you pay for.

you also have anew one that doesnt have a low back support and intend to hold up to 5 kg - it cost 60 something and doing excellent job on small rigs
the cheapest one really doesn't deserve a spit

Over the years, I've cobbled together a vest-style harness from bits of military surplus. I think I've spent about $50 on it, so far. It may not be as aeshtetically pleasing as some of Petrol's products, but it certainly gets the job done. It basically looks like a grimey PEHR-N, but with a wider modular web belt around the waist. The web belt has a variety of tool and accessory pouches, including a large pouch at the back that holds all my spare batteries and offsets the front-heavy weight distribution.

Of course, I could have saved all the time I spent rummaging through funky bins of surplus and just shelled out for a PEHR-N :)
