Sophocles Trial Ate my script!

I'm a college student and I found this software I'm sure you've heard of called Sophocles that is screenwriting software. Well i downloaded the trial. I've written about 4 pages that I want to email to a friend for advice and I can't get it from Sophocles. I can't copy/paste it. Usually I can get around this pretty easily using some nifty trick or another but I'm at my wits end. 3 Hours later I still cant get it out.

Anyone know what to do? Is there a program or something out there someones made to combat this? Maybe ... oh i don't know. Its alot of stuff to rewrite and if i have to i will but. Augh. I hate you sophocles and your smug $120 fee that maniacally giggles in my face like a rabid school girl... damn you....

:kali: :badputer:

Have to say that this program is fantastic, and worth the price.

The trial is meant to give you an idea what the program can do, so you can make your purchasing decision based on having TRIED it.
It seems you are upset that you can't cheat the program to let you use it for free?

You might be able to printsc copy your script and then paste in photoshop for printing. You'd probably have to rewrite your script in another software package. Or you could buy the software.

Since you're in college you should be able to get an academic discount on final draft. It'll still be pricy, but it's a lot cheaper than paying fullprice. Worth it in the long run if you plan on honing your skills.

I am upset that i can't 'cheat' a program that let me use it for free? Quite simply... yes. I made the mistake of writing on it and assumed i'd be able to easily copy and paste my work to another place afterwards- in case i didnt like the software, or in case i couldnt afford it even with a discount. So yes, I am upset.

I endedup spending the time to manually rewrite it into notepad. I don't have a good wordprocessor >_<
Then I redid the intro and pretty much tossed out the others stuff anyway so its completely different.

But now I know not to use Sophocles trial again. . .
I wish there was a free software out there.

If you'd read the screenwriting faq you would have seen the section on free screenwriting software.

Check out celtx. It's free.

That's the way a lot of demo downloads are set up. You can't copy and paste out of it or save more then a set number of pages.

I'm not sure how great the free stuff out there is but the guys who make Movie Magic Screenwriter have a lower end version called Hollywood Screenwriter. For about $40.00 it works great and it will get the job done at a basic level.

And why would you copy it into notepad when wordpad is also free and standard on Windows PCs and actually has some word processor functions while notepad doesn't have squat?

i am pretty sure you can get the "student" version of sophocles which is merely the full version discounted for 50 bucks?

completely worth the investment for anyone who is going to writing one feature let alone writing anything more than that. the software is great and although its not FINAL DRAFT for the price i think it is a pretty good deal.

maybe look into one of those student discounts...

GREAT advice, although I think anything other than $0.00 would of been too much in this case.
Personally, I think the proggy rocks too!
