Sony Z1 Capturing Issues

Hey guys.

I've been asked to do some editing for a relatively new production company. The rushes I've been given were shot on 2 Sony Z1s and an EX3, but I'm having real trouble capturing them.

I've got the files from the EX3 on my hard drive, but FCP won't read them. The producer gave me a link to something on the Sony website that should allow me to import the files, but the link is broken.

The main issue however is that I just can't capture anything from the Z1 tapes. I tried them in a JVC deck, and got nothing. The deck knew there was a tape in there, and would rewind/play/stop etc when told to by the computer, but there was no image, just a still frame of an old lady being interviewed (not what I was expecting on the tape - this should be film of a music venue). Unfortunately the producer who was with me didn't know if that's something that might have been at the start of the tape, or if it's a hangover from that last thing that that computer was being used to capture (the deck and computer I was using at the time belonged to my university, not me).

The technician at uni said that he had a feeling there was an issue between Z1s and the JVC decks we have, and that I should try just capturing straight from a camcorder. I borrowed a Sony Handycam (not sure which make, it's just one of those little consumer ones) and tried capturing with that. No playback. Just a blue screen, and no timecode either.

Anybody got any advice? The only thing I can think of is to try and get hold of a Z1 and capture from that, but I don't know anybody who owns one. I have this horrible suspicion that the tapes have been wiped somehow.
