I said that I would report on this little portable DVD burner after I tried it and I love this thing. You can put up to 12 hours of footage on one disk and you can copy 1 hour dv tapes to a 4.7 gig disk. You can use dual
layer dvd+ disks in it and keep the high quality setting and put two hours of footage on it. Its got firewire and USB and analog video with both S-video and composite hookups. Its a card reader and does the main 4
kinds of cards. Its brainless simple to use and make dvds with. I has a converter chip in it thats great, I copied from a LX1 and my HVX200 and it retains the same quality as on the camera when you play the dvd back on a dvd player. You can't notice any degradation in quality. This is a great little unit that you can make dubs from without a computer out in the field.
Next I'm going to try and setup and try to record to it live while going to P2 card on my HVX200, if it lets you do this its going to be a great way to make a copy or dubs at the same time as you shoot. You can stop
and pause and start it again while recording and it you are using firewire it is supose to start and stop with the camera which will be fantastic.
Just thought I would share this with you.
PS: you can burn the timecode into the dvd by just turning in on to display in the lcd of the camera-cool.
