13 inch display (1280 x 800) so its nice and portable.

Running XP

No PCMIA slot, planning to get the duel systems adapter. This is still one of my major hold ups.

I bought this item 'opened' box so I got about $400 off. Spent $1k.

My brain is fried from researching/ purchasing my audio gear. And I just need some reassurance. Also all my experience with HVX/P2 has been Mac, so this PC work flow is taking me out of my element.

1) Too pricey for a dedicated P2 offload machine? Any reason to upgrade the HD to 7200?

2) Once I get P2 Genie up and running on this thing, will I be able to mount my HVX and start transferring while I wait for my duel systems PCMCIA to ExpressCard adapter?

3) Format my external HDs for PC? Then transmac to my Mac for editing?

4) Do I sound like one of those Mac guys that should just spend 600 more and get a G4 powerbook w/ FCP and PCMCIA so that I don't keep asking questions you've probably already answered 100x before?

Last I heard, PC laptops were all-around better for the IT workflow than Macs. Has that changed?

1 - no, no
2 - yes
3 - yes, yes
4 - no

It would be easier to have an older pc with a pcmcia slot - you don't need to plug-in the adapter. The dual adapter will be great when you get it.
