okay, im not quite sure what to do and requesting some help. ill give you a rundown of my situation right now first. i own a dvx and love it, but used to much more. often i see the signature look of dvx where the image has an overall orangy tint, and i also film skateboarding and the "death", or century fisheye isnt the best as DVX chips are usually not alligned properly, causing uneven vignetting. you also must zoom in to decrease most the vignetting that occurs. i have, like, $350 and my vx1000 is currently in the shop and will cost about that. ill probably sell it for up to 1300 because of the condition (great). with the recent release of sony's v1u and some of the great footage ive seen from it, ive become obsessed almost. the slo-mo recording is amazing (instead of 60i, 240i) but reduces resolution. i dont really care about the reduced res. though. this camera seems amazing: HDV, no vertical streaking from light, 20x zoom, etc. awesome! its also inevitable that i have to change to HD in the future and this looks promising. i bought my dvx at costco and can take it back and the difference is only $700! i think im ready to make the switch but am not completely sure yet.... i guess i just need some encouragement but probably wont get it here. what are your thoughts???

also, does anyone know (because i film skating and need to get the century fisheye) if there's a very short xlr mic i can get for it because the stock one is quite long and might get in the picture?

thanks!

Have you actually seen clips of the V1's "slow motion" feature? Be sure to watch it before you make any decision thinking it's going to be a benefit; I think it's a bad joke at best, but hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and whatnot.

Here's a clip that DSE posted that shows the V1's "super slow mo" function; you decide if you'd be happy with this quality:

yes i have seen that. the resolution comes out to
3 sec= 640 x 360
6/12 sec= 512 x 240

most my videos will be downed to sd for the time being so it wont be that bad. ive also come up with a simple solution- border it a little more than normal. add black so that the resolution you see is in full. also, maybe use an uprezzing program. i think it might give it a unique look just for those really cool slo-mo shots.

EDIT - oh and also, a new question. is it simple to deal with HD? could i just do it like i do in regular DV, (i do it a kindof retarded way, but to each his own) import it through imovie (HD), delete the bad clips and drag .dv's to a folder in my desktop and drag to my external to build up for my main video and to later edit in final cut.

or, to import it into final cut express HD or pro HD(because i think im gonna start doing that) and work with them like i normally do with DV clips? because i dont wanna get programs to downconvert and all this ****, want to know if its an easy workflow
