Was on a shoot recently where the audio would dip up in down drastically in levels. We where on a tight schedule and just changed to hard wired mic to save time but I assume it was interference? However I did try changing bands but still had the issue. Since then I wasn't by able to replicate the problem a t home but wanted to know what might if caused this and what can I do to fix it if it happens again

I'm not familiar with the Sony units. Could what you describe be caused by automatic gain control not functioning well in the shoot circumstances?

Are you running LCF (Low Cut Filter) ?..... Often over powering bottom end will drive the system into level drop.
[Low] setting is good for most stuff, [Med] is good for run / gun news work.
Sony systems are actually more forgiving than other brands of systems, some makes go into clipping or distortion, Sonys seem have a soft limiting /gain control.

As a suggestion is run your system 'gain staging' on the conservative side rather than pushing it.

Was the volume just dipping down or cutting out completely?
