sony urx-p2 receiver ok with phantom power?

I want to buy a Tascam Dr100 to use with my sony urx-p2 wireless mic receiver. I'll be plugging a phantom powered shotgun mic into the receiver as well. Apparently, both channels have to be phantom powered or none - you can't just power one. I was wondering if it was safe to plug the sony receiver into a powered channel even though it doesn't need phantom power. Has anyone tried?

Any issues?

Any issues?

Hi,
I will be running into the same issue, but with another recorder - PMD-661. Have you had any problems running Phantom to the RUX-P2 receiver?

Any properly wired balanced gear will have ZERO problems when plugged into a jack with phantom power. The entire point of phantom power is to provide power to mics / outboard gear without any effect to mics / gear that doesn't use it.

If the line from the Sony is unbalanced and you're somehow adapting to XLR, then you could have problems, but otherwise you should be just fine.

This sort of thing is done all the time with smaller-format live mixers. They'll generally have a single switch to provide phantom to all the XLR inputs and it's very common to only have one or two of the connected mics actually drawing that phantom power while the others just do their thing blissfully unaware that there is power available on the line.

Thanks Jordan. The port from on the receiver is mini-stereo, but Sony provides a dedicated mini-stereo male to XLR 3-pin male. The mini-stero plug looks to be a stereo plug, but as far as I can tell, its not balanced output. I can only assume that its unbalanced. Any way to know?
