Sony tapes snuck into my dvx

I bought my dvx about a year ago, and have exclusively used Panasonic AY-DVM63MQ tapes. I just found out that last month, the renter of my dvx recorded 3 Sony Premium miniDV tapes. I have probably recorded 10 more AY-DVM63MQs since then with no problem. What do you think? Should I light my hair on fire and run screaming though the town? Or just forget it happened and move on?

While it's not optimal to mix tapes, I sincerly doubt just three recordings on it is doing to give you any noticeable difference in quality, longevity of heads, etc. In the future, I'd require people to present to you the tapes they plan on using, or require they purchase your MQ's with the camera rental.

Good to hear. I did actually sell him 20 MQs and tell him not to mix tapes and why. He said he ran out and just picked up some Sonys.
Thanks.

He ran out and "picked up" the Sony's AFTER you told him? Or you explained afterwards why to never do it again?

Ah, good. I was going to say that if it was AFTER you talked to him that he still went & got the Sony's, then I'd say to follow SplitVision's advice & light the dude's hair on fire.
