Sony SR1 and Final Cut Studio

Will the new Sony SR1 HD camera with the hard disk storage work with FCP Studio? I read threads about how long it takes to work with HDV in FCP but I believe this has their new avchd program that Sony and Panasonic developed. I haven't read that FCP supports this as of yet. Would apprecaite any assistance on whether it's worth buying this camera to work with FCP. Thanks in advance!!

Apple has yet to even pledge support for AVCHD AFAIK, and it isn't supported in the current version...so you're SOL to edit with that camera with this version of FCP. Apple will probably wait to see how it does out in the market before deciding whether to support it is my guess.
