Sony PXW-Z150 All In One - 1" 4K with 10 bit 4:2:2 HD

Seems like Sony is probably using a similar 1 inch stacked CMOS sensor to the one in the RX10 II and combined it with the 12x optical zoom lens (f/2.8-4.5) from the PXW-X70. The RX10 II also maxed out at 2160p30 and could do 1080p120 continuous recording.

This would mean that the sensor size is actually about 20 Megapixels and there is some downsampling happening to get to a 8 Megapixel UHD frame size. Assuming the Clear Image Zoom feature (24X in HD and 18X in UHD) works similarly to the Sony X70 and AX100, the first 12x of the zoom range uses the optical zoom lens, and beyond that it starts cropping a progressively smaller area from the center of the sensor. This is why more zoom (more cropping) is possible in HD.

Note that you can turn off the Clear Image Zoom feature, in which case you are limited to the 12x optical zoom, but always get a full sensor readout (without any cropping).

The 12x zoom lens of the X70 has a full frame equivalent focal length of 29–348 mm and I'd be surprised if the Z150 wasn't similar. Same ballpark as the DVX200, although with a 13x zoom, the DVX200 has a bit more reach at the telephoto end.

Just wondering if 2018 is the year for upgrading Z150?
4K XAVC Long GOP 4:2:0/ 8bit 100 Mbps
HD XAVC Long GOP 4:2:2/ 10bit 50 Mbps
should be upgraded to
4K XAVC Long GOP 4:2:0/ 10bit 100 Mbps
HD XAVC Long GOP 4:2:2/ 10bit 50 Mbps
and I'm ready for shopping...
