Sony PVM-9L3 monitor

I have a few questions for anyone who has used the Sony PVM-9L3 monitor.

1. How does it connect to the DVX? Composite or S-Video?

2. Is there a way to power it in the field besides the sony B series or Anton Bauer batteries? Since the monitor costs a grand as it is, I don't have another thousand to spend on batteries and a charger for it.

Thanks

A car jump-start "Booster Pac" and a DC->AC inverter will give you field power for about $150... nowhere near as convenient as on-board batteries, of course, but also 1/6 the cost.

You should be able to power it via a cigarette and/or XLR connector as well (maybe with an adapter).  You could then buy yourself a Bescor lead acid battery for around $60 that would power it for quite some time. Although heavy, they work great. I use them (battery belt) to power my on camera lights and they last forever. They are not near as flexible as other battery types, but perform very well under heavy loads. They make them in all shapes and sizes.

If you have a different 12v battery systems (for me, I have Sony V-mounts), you can have the battery plate on the monitor in that style. Armatos in NYC offers a reasonable NiMH system that is much cheaper than the Anton Bauer equipment.

Just some rambling thoughts. Hopefully, they'll help.

oh and its BNC.. so you use a BNC cable with a RCA adapter on one end of it.

Thanks for the replies. As of right now I'm gonna go with the Armatos batteries. They look like good batteries that won't put me in the poor house like the anton bauers.
