Sony PVM-9L3 9-Inch Color Production Monitor

Re: Sony PVM-9L3 9-Inch Color Production Monitor

a note on those little DVD players.. they are great because they have batteries in them that will last a good 4 hours if your not spinning disks in them, and they work fine with the DVX. They do also have quassey underscan, at least they show more than the DVX flip out does, and they do the 16x9 stretch for you.

Thanks Jarred
That might be the way to go.
I haven't been to Circuit City for a while
I'm going to check them out.
I like the simplicity of this option.

With the portable DVD players, how far off of true color representation are we talking? Will they get you in the ballpark where you can do some tweaking in post (I know, I know...the "fix it in post" myth, huh?)?

Re: Sony PVM-9L3 9-Inch Color Production Monitor

I would think it doubtful that a portable DVD screen is going to present colors more accurately than the DVX's LCD... unless you're buying a very expensive portable DVD player, it doesn't seem likely that its screen will be substantially better than the one Panasonic engineered for its pro-division camera. Could be wrong, but I don't think so. I think the main appeal to the portable DVD idea is that it gives you a 16:9-shaped image, not that it offers any increase in resolution or color fidelity.
