Sony NEX5 project

Hi,

I´ve been having some fun with the Sony NEX5 video but I have a coupld of doubts:

1 - I have a quad core 8gb laptop with windows 7 64 bits that I´m using with Premiere CS5 64bits and when I edit Sony NEX5´s full hd footage with it it hick ups a lot. I´m thinking about converting this footage to some other format/compression. What is the best option for smooth editing in Premiere without too much of a blow quality wise? I´d like to be able to CC without the footage falling apart.

2 - The Sony NEX5 shoots AVCHD 1920x1080i. Could I import the clips as DSLR preset for 1920x1080p? Or is there a better way to convert? I´m not buying any plugins/addons.

cheers

Rafa

I have not tried Adobe Media Encoder. I will give it a try, but what codec/compression/settings are most suitable for smoth editing on Premiere CS5?

Use Media Encoder and transcode to P2 AVC-Intra100. It will take up 6x the disk space but there is no quality loss and it scrubs fast.

Thanks, Phil. Is these any particular compression settings I should keep an eye on when I select P2 AVC-Intra100?

P2 AVC-Intra100 is not available on Adobe Media Encoder.

Sure it is.

Format - P2 Movie
Preset - AVC-Intra Class100 1080

Unless you are running the trial, which does not have it (as well as other codecs) until you buy the full version.

I don't know what happened. I deleted this post like 5 seconds after i've posted.
