Sony Media Manager - Vegas 9.0 - Starting database serice not working

Hey all,

After a recent windows update (I think) the Sony Media Manager on Vegas 9.0 is not working....


When I load the program, It just gives me an extra cancel box saying = "Starting database service..." and it just hangs. I can move it off the screen and still work in vegas, but I'm not sure whats the issue and what features this compromises.

I would also like to know if there is a remedy. Thanks!
 
I am having the exact same problem with Vegas 7e (on a new install after having to reformat my hard drive). It didn't used to happen. If anyone has any ideas, please help.
 
ya, i was with same prob.
i fixed trying:
go to control panel of u computer, if vista, open programs and features, if Xp, open add or remove programs... and uninstall 'Sony Media Menager'...
vegas work without it, but, 1 'ok' message in splashscreen: "media menager not correctly installed', and d tab 'media menager' dsnt work, but, if u want, re-install d media menager..
media menager:for me it is useless

re-installing doesn't help? maybe updating/re-installing .net framework? I turn windows updates off cause of stuff like this.

media manager doesn't have a good track record in terms of "will it work the next day?". I just use explorer.

I think that my issue started after I downloaded some windows vista updates, but I found out it does not happens with every project , so far is happening with two of my projects . Still looking for a solution
