Sony MDR-7506 removable cable

I wonder if some one has experience with this, My idea is to cut the original Sony cable where the coil starts , that is about 2 foot from the head cup, then use these connectors :

The female goes to the Sony cable and the male goes to :
1- The original Sony coiled cable when I need long extension with the male plug
2- A Mogami W3031 4 foot that added to the original Sony 2 foot left=6 foot ( This one with another male plug )

So I'll have 2 cords one coiled and one straight .
The reason for the lock type connectors is that gravity or a sort of pull may disconnect the cable

Thank you, and yes I have the Senal, and I'll like the Sony to have the same options with that $ 10 investment

Yeah....my Sony coiled cords are a stretched out mess. Really hate them. I'm absolutely sure that soldering those will be a nightmare, but so is dealing with this spaghetti.

Thanks for the tip about the Senal SMH-1000...are they REALLY a clone? or just a similar style? Because if I get some they NEED to sound the same as the Sonys.

Checking videos I saw this, seems easy, nothing really strange.
My idea is not Bluetooth, is cable, but cable seems easy to work.

I much prefer to have the connector right in the shell vs. having a pig-tail hanging down. It is much cheaper, as well.
Maybe I will make a video about how to add a 3.5mm female connector to the 7506/V6 shell.

I think they sound the same. Shell is the same form, headband and hinging is all but identical. Transducer... didn't rip them apart but they sure sounded like 7506s. I did A/B them when I first got them against the 7506s. Sounded the same.

I'm guessing with your sound background you would be able to find someone you know who has them to test out.

Everyone I know has the Sonys. I never paid any attention to Senal until last week when I got one of their stereo on-camera mics.

Your review sounds great! I think I'll switch over and and get a set or two of the Senals since at least one of my Sonys is on its last legs.

Yes The male plug has to be screwed to it not attached to it, otherwise connection woudn't be reliable, I have seen videos with regular female, and that probably works for non critical monitoring situations.
Also make sure the lock type connector fits in the MDR-7506 SHELL
About the Senal, I don't know, is a good clon but not the same build and sound, however acceptable in fact, since they are brand new I'm giving them to a friend as a Christmas present.
and will buy the Audio Technica ATH-M40X.

If it is your ear pads becoming shredded causing you to look for a new pair, I picked up a set of these Garfield Softies on the recommendations of a few respected Location Sound guys

First 5 minutes, it felt weird but after that I was a convert. My Sony pads were slipping off at the slightest provocation and then the thin letherette pad covers began to shred. These covers slip on over the pads and hug the back of capsule enclosure. Initially it feels as if the closed design of the phones are compromised but after some use you realize the sonics are almost the same in terms of isolation and the phones slide off your ears more gracefully when you are trying to get both the room sound and the recorded sound. A really good investment in my view and prolong the life of the 7506 if the pads are the problem. Just leave the old pads on and put the Softies right over top. Takes 30 seconds.

As a long time Garfield Softie user, I concur with Andrew's statement "First 5 minutes, it felt weird but after that I was a convert". Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. In addition they keep the original inner pads from getting pulled off in the heat of battle, which has been known to happen.
Another popular option is the Beyer DT250 Velour replacement EarPads. I haven't read much about or tried the Auray Genuine Sheepskin Leather pads which could be considered another option. Both the Beyer and Auray fit the 7506/V6 perfectly.

Wanted to share my experience with this cable, in fact the cable is a pain in the neck to solder, but I was able to cut about 3-4 foot and replace the 3.5 plug and now
is much nicer to handle gives around 7-8 foot at max extension, decided no to use the lock type connectors.
