SONY IBC: PMW-500, HXR MC200E, 35MM Prototype

ok - just spent some time reading the af100 news thread - very impressive - gotta say that by the time sony gets in the game with this camera , pany will have already released an af100b- there will be more progress from sonys´alphas than from the pro division, sad to say ! they seem stuck in outfield !....and the price - not even in the ballpark !

Hi Eric, i follow you on Red forum, ..
I think the same as you as for the price for the Red only available as from today at $25K.
They will loose a lot of customers .. so from now, Red is not cheaper .. is not affordable

According to the Japanese Sony rep standing next to the "35mm prototype", camera should be around $50,000.

I hope he was wrong....

Sony called it a "baby F35". It's not aimed at the low-budget guy. I thought $19,000 sounded low for a Red competitor (they also said it's aimed at the Red One). But $50k? First I've heard of that...

They say it'll be out in early 2011. So we'll see in, what, six months? Not too long.

Hi Barry, greetings from Johnnie...

Yesterday I want again to the Sony rep saying I wanted to confirm he did not say $15,000 and I heard 50,000.

I got a big smile and the same answer again. $50,000 it is.

I hope (like all of us) he was wrong.

Thanks and see you again at NAB

The $25k price for Red 1 MX is still quite cheap for the value it delivers. This is a very different much higher quality camera than the original M version yet it is still priced like a mid-range 2/3" HD camera.

We can dream!

Again. the title of this thread mentions the HXR-MC200E. What is that?

It's a Miracle! Like Rainbows and magnets!

But seriously, its a newer version of the HD-1000u semi-shoulder mount camera, exept instead of being filled with the guts of an Sony A1U, now its filled with the HXR-MC50U

Price for Red is for body only, but this Sony has few more things like LCD, viewfinder, top handle etc.
