So I haven't been using these cameras long, but I have been using them a lot in the past couple of months. The problem I am having is with colors and white balancing. I am shooting on the same set, same lights, etc. but have not been able to get the same colors each time. I usually can "fix it in post" but it is a pain in the butt! In fact I sometimes get better looking footage with the auto white balance. I have tried underexposing, overexposing, picking new whites other than my card... even used the preset and used the outdoor + and - buttons to make that look good...
Anyways, I am spending the day doing tests with some new props and curtains we have for the set and hoping that maybe bringing in warmer colors will help my issue. I understand that the blue curtain doesn't help, that was a one time thing. If anyone has any ideas that would be amazing! I hope its just user error (what I'm expecting) and not just the camera. This could also very well be my lighting...
So the two new factors for me right now are the Z1U and the new Lowell light kit which is way more power than I have used in the past. I am posting some screen shots below:
The first 2 are both cameras white balanced to the same card.
These are two different shoots just a differentpart of the room... the lights are the same just turned a few degrees for the new location.
Finally, here is the light setup taken with an SLR. The blue gel is not present in the screen grabs, it was just on there for a test the day the picture was taken.
