Sony HVR-V1U help

I just purchased a sony hvr-v1u and and having trouble deciding wether or not I'm going to keep it. Though the 24p/1080i is a pretty cool feature on a camera, the zoom is a little slow and i am having a tough time figuring out how to switch focus between images near and far. Does anyone have any ideas?

I guess you are referring to shot transition. You will have to assign buttons 1, 2,3 for shot transition then it;s a pice of cake. Press button 1 to initiate the effect. focuse on the first object then press button 2 to store that focuse. Rezoom or simply focuse on the second object then press button 3 to store. That's it.
