Sony HVL-20DMA

I've used it on occasion. It's a pretty decent little light. Two 10w lamps that you can individually switch. 10w is actually quite a bit of light for a modern camera, 20w is a lot, so it's plenty big enough. And the fac that it runs on those batteries is the biggest thing in its favor.

The light quality is not too glaring, it's a little bit frosted, although it could probably still use a sheet of diffusion over it to deliver an actually-soft light.

Not bad. If you want to use those batteries, it's a pretty decent light.

do you know the runtime of 20w on one of the larger m batteries? its either this route or goin with a DIY on cam light ...using a battery powered worklight form homedepot that runs off of a 12v battery pack and only costs 20 bucks check it out

well i got the light today, and it seems to do well
20w at about 45 min per battery its a lot lighter then lugging a battery belt or pack around, dont know about the convience yet....i may also pick up the husky just incase

i got it from cructchfield.com thank god for the 30 day return policy...

i really wanted to test out a pro grade light...but EVS, and even b&h dont have a good return policy on lighting gear and batteries....

well when u are in an area limited to rental companies....its not that easy to do...

Landover Md the closest one to me is over 2 hours away from me, not worth the drive in my opinion, id rather pay shipping fees.

If there was a store that stocked pro gear locally it wouldnt be an issue

ive gone to a couple expo's here on the east coast...but you cant get a real feel for a piece of equipment with out trying it.

and if you buy something soley on opinion with out the option to get a refund....that is plane dumb...

and i have contacted VER befor took 3 weeks for them to call me back after numerous calls, and when i finally talked to them, they were quite rude, and overpriced for rentals in this area....
